Summary

The Value Metrics RN is detail oriented, committed to high-quality data abstraction, meets both quality and productivity standards, functions well independently and works well under time constraints to ensure deadlines are met. The Value Metrics RN supports the patient safety and quality improvement efforts through accurate reporting of compliance to defined metrics and collaborates with departmental team members to facilitate improved patient outcomes. The Value Metrics RN is responsible for the detailed abstraction and review of data utilizing electronic medical records and certified registries. This job may include performing reviews for concurrent and retrospective core measures and other quality, patient safety, customer concern projects, committee membership, and special studies. The Value Metrics RN will primarily work remotely, although some on-site meetings may be required.

 

Position Reports To: Quality Reporting Manager

Essential Functions

  1. Provides accurate medical record review, abstraction of specific data, and enter data to computerized abstraction tools for organization-wide quality improvement activities and regulatory reporting requirements. Coordinates and completes responsibilities for facility quality initiatives within mandated timeframes.
  2. Responsible for accurate data submission that includes but is not limited to core measures, disease and procedural clinical registries, and other special projects as assigned.
  3. Completes all data input, error report analysis and correction, resolution of errors related to data entry, and submission of data for assigned registries, programs, and projects.
  4. Assists in reporting data and variances to departments and/or committees within the organization as assigned/requested.
  5. Achieves and maintains technical knowledge related to all measures and specifications relevant to assigned registries and projects through participation in educational sessions, webinars, and other resources; keeps abreast of all changes to programs.
  6. Utilizes Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other programs to effectively communicate performance and assist with identification of improvement opportunities.
  7. Works collaboratively with third party registries and abstraction programs to ensure that data for Confluence Health locations is successfully submitted and received.
  8. Demonstrates communication and interpersonal skills through:

  9. Attends educational training sessions to further enhance skills and knowledge.
  10. Required to maintain active Basic Life Support (CPR) certification.
  11. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Current licensure in the state of Washington (RCW 18.88) or licensure through Multistate Nurse Licensure Compact (SSB 5499).
  • At least two years recent successful experience in an acute-care setting or three years’ experience as a registered nurse in a health care setting such as hospice, home-health, or a medical clinic.
  • Previous experience in Quality Management and Chart Review/Audits.
  • Must possess basic skills related to Windows navigation, accurate keyboarding, email communication.
  • Proficient competent clinical skills and the ability to exercise independent judgment as well as seek guidance when indicated.
  • Effective teaching and communication skills.
  • The ability to function autonomously in a non-structured environment and shift priorities as required/requested.
  • Critical thinking and multi-tasking skills.
  • Familiarity with Excel and willingness to learn Excel functions are required.

Desired:

  • BSN.
  • Experience with graphing, filtering, pivot tables and other Excel functions
