AECOM’S operations have been declared essential so we are continuing to operate and are looking to fill business-critical roles at this time. We currently seeking a full-time, remote telehealth Occupational Health Nurse. This position is remote and can be based anywhere in the US.

Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, time may vary & range from 7am-5pm CST, must be on call one weekend a month.

Key responsibilities of this role include but are not limited to:

+ Conduct telephone and/or video assessments of employee symptoms, evaluate injury against current job functions, determine mechanism of injury, and take related medical history

+ Determine a plan of care to ensure quality medical care and provide guidance regarding self-care and first aid by following current nursing guidelines and medical directives

+ Triage inbound calls, gather information and history of present injury, review triage guidelines and select the most appropriate level of care based on database protocols and department policies and procedures

+ Stay abreast clinical knowledge pertaining to various workplace injuries/illnesses, medications, treatments, etc

+ Provide clinical information and education for inbound and outbound calls providing oversight and support to the non-clinical staff

+ Work closely with key stakeholders such as occupational health members, claims managers, human resources, SH&E managers, operations personnel and external vendors

+ Liaise with service providers, insurance carriers, community health care professionals, management and employees to facilitate appropriate medical care at the appropriate time to speed recovery and return to work

+ Coordinating with worksites on return to work and accommodation of restrictions for employees injured on the job

+ Ensure the professional standards of nursing are maintained and the confidentiality of medical data is protected

+ Maintain and safeguard confidentiality of employee health information and health records as mandated by HIPPA and AECOM

+ Maintain confidentiality and comply with Federal and respective state’s laws regulating health management organizations and telephone information centers and all department standards and policies and procedures

+ Document all call inquiries according to department policies and procedures and participate in the collection of data for department quality projects

+ Perform data entry, electronic scheduling, and reports as requested

Minimum Requirements

+ Bachelor’s degree in Nursing and 2+ years of directly related experience

+ Current RN license and CPR certification

Preferred Qualifications


+ 1+ years of experience with occupational health, industrial medicine, workers compensation or employee health

+ Working knowledge of workers compensation, occupational health, case management process, return to work programs, medical surveillance programs and wellness programs

+ Previous telephonic case management experience


+ Unrestricted Registered Nurse license within an eNLC Compact State and holding a Compact State License highly preferred

+ Certified Occupational Health Nurse (OHN), Certified Rehabilitation Registered Nurse (CRRN) and Certified Case Manager (CCM) highly preferred

+ Ability to obtain Occupational Health and/or Case Management certification within 2 years of employment


+ Ability to work effectively, prioritize, and multi-task in fast paced environment with changing priorities to accomplish goals of the job per caseload

+ Independent, self-motivated and self-directed with strong organization, prioritization and problem-solving skills

+ Exceptional verbal and written communication skills that enable you to build strong, positive relationships with diverse groups

+ Positive telephone interaction skills including ability to ask open-ended questions to identify problems and focus conversation for goal directed and time limited conversation

+ Ability to interact effectively with various internal stakeholders and other designated personnel for proper initiation and follow-up of possible work-related injuries and illnesses


+ Technically adept to utilize systems software in efficient and effective manner

+ Strong computer skills including electronic health record experience and proficiency with Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel and Powerpoint)

+ Ability to work in a diary system with a strong attention to detail
