Dove HomeCare Consulting (DHC) is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Per Diem Home Health & Hospice Medical Coder to join our growing team. We provide quality assurance and consulting services to home health and hospice agencies nationwide and are looking for a dependable coding professional who thrives in a remote environment.

Position Details
- Position: Per Diem Home Health & Hospice Medical Coder
- Employment Type: Independent Contractor (1099)
- Location: Remote
- Schedule: Per Diem/As Needed
- Flexible work hours based on project and client needs
- Compensation: Competitive and based on experience and scope of work
Responsibilities
- Review and accurately code home health and hospice clinical documentation
- Assign and sequence ICD-10 diagnosis codes in accordance with current coding guidelines and payer requirements
- Review OASIS assessments for coding accuracy and completeness
- Ensure coding supports medical necessity and reimbursement requirements
- Identify documentation deficiencies and communicate recommendations to the QA team
- Collaborate with nurses, clinicians, and quality assurance staff to resolve coding questions
- Meet established turnaround times and productivity expectations
- Assist with special coding and quality assurance projects as needed
- Remain current on regulatory and coding guideline changes
Qualifications
- Minimum of two (2) years of home health and/or hospice coding experience preferred
- Strong knowledge of:
- ICD-10-CM coding guidelines
- OASIS regulations and requirements
- Home health and hospice documentation standards
- Medicare Conditions of Participation
- Experience working with electronic medical records (EMR) systems
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently and manage deadlines effectively
Preferred Credentials
One or more of the following certifications is preferred:
- Certified Coding Specialist (CCS)
- Certified Professional Coder (CPC)
- Home Health Coding Specialist – Diagnosis (HCS-D)
- Home Care Coding Specialist – Hospice (HCS-H)
- Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN/LPN) with coding experience is a plus

Pay: $30.00 – $45.00 per hour
