We are looking to add a RN/LPN to our staff! This position is fully remote!

POSITION DESCRIPTION

I. TITLE OF POSITION: Remote Nurse

II. NATURE OF POSITION: The Remote Nurse is an integral member of the interdisciplinary health team and assumes responsibility for the standard of nursing care delivery in the remote clinic setting.

III. QUALIFICATIONS:
A. Registered nurse currently licensed to practice in the state of Oklahoma.

B. Experience in ambulatory care

C. Possess strong clinical and teaching skills.

D. Able to assume a leadership role in a team environment.

E. Strong interest in working with an interdisciplinary health team and culturally diverse

patient population

VI. SUPPORTIVE/CHARGE RESPONSIBILITIES:
A. Works in harmony with others exhibiting a positive attitude and a commitment to the basic mission of the health center

B. Proactively assumes the responsibility for the standard of nursing care delivery and customer service in the clinical areas.

C. Knowledgeable of the scope of practice for all nursing disciplines as described by the Nurse Practice Act.

D. Able to effectively plan, oversee, direct, and evaluate all nursing activities in the clinicalarea. Appropriately delegates tasks to team members to maximize resources.

E. Assumes responsibility for and demonstrates ability to effectively organize and prioritize work and available resources to maintain efficient patient flow in the clinic.

F. Manipulates the nursing schedule as necessary to maintain the best possible nurse/provider ratio, considering numbers, skill levels, cost effectiveness.

G. Able to act as a primary resource in emergency situations.

H. Actions show commitment to team effort, works well with others, supports group objectives, and participates in staff meetings and team problem solving.

VII. Patient Care Responsibilities

A. Follows protocols and performs accurate and thorough work-ups and check-ins of all patients.

B. Accurately assesses current patient status as well as preventive health status and communicates needs to provider.

C. Initiates and provides accurate patient education based on assessment of patient needs and clinic standards of nursing care, and documents in patient record.

D. Anticipates the needs of providers related to patient visits and assists providers as needed.

E. Exhibits caring qualities consistent with the values of the Great Salt Plains Health Center.

F. Assumes role of patient advocate to ensure health needs are met, to include responding to patient phone messages and requests in a timely and professional manner.

G. Documents all provider orders, nursing actions, and interventions on patient record consistent with guidelines, and utilizes approved abbreviations.

H. Appropriately triages patients via telephone during hours of operation and after-hours when on-call for appropriateness and timeliness of care per approved triage protocols and standing orders.

I. Knowledgeable of and follows all established Infection Control guidelines and OSHA standards and participates in staff training events.

J. Keeps patients and families informed of situations that affect the clinic visit, i.e., extended waiting times, seeing provider other than originally scheduled, etc.

K. Performs other duties incidental to work.

L. Completion and documentation of at least 50 telephone encounters in EMR per day.

M. Will assist all locations with medication refills, and any clinical advice telephone calls. Telephone calls that require nurse assistance can be immediately transferred to the remote nurse.

N. Employee will provide a summary of tasks completed, weekly to their supervisor.

VIII. Maintains Professional Standards

A. Meets deadlines to maintain current license and required annual training

B. Utilizes the Performance Improvement processes in identifying the clinic needs related to any aspect of patient care and customer service.

C. Demonstrates flexibility in work roles and schedules to meet the changing needs of the health center.

D. Maintains awareness of new information applicable to job, i.e., policies, meeting minutes, procedures, memos, protocols, and online training courses.

E. Utilizes slow times constructively to enhance clinic operations; assists other departments when time and workload permits.

F. Maintains professional appearance and follows established dress code.

G. Promptly informs supervisor of real or potential clinic problems. Maintains confidentiality of patients and staff.

H. Employee actively pursues continuing education to improve job skills and performance.

I. Able to identify own areas of needed improvement, formulates goals and actively works toward those goals.

J. Utilizes appropriate methods to deal with stressful situations.

K. Understands organizational goals and performs job duties in a manner consistent with these goals.

L. Can be relied upon to meet work schedules and fulfill responsibilities and commitments, attendance, punctuality, dependability, initiative, productivity, and efficiency.

M. This position is not warranted overtime unless preapproved by supervisor.

IX. Has the ability to work remote
