OVERVIEW:
The U.S. Navy is seeking highly motivated Registered Nurses to provide healthcare services to Sailors, Marines, and their families around the world. Navy Nurses serve as commissioned officers and medical leaders, delivering patient-centered care in a variety of clinical environments while developing advanced leadership and specialty skills.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
As a Navy Registered Nurse, you will:
- Provide direct patient care in hospitals, clinics, and operational environments
- Work alongside physicians, surgeons, and multidisciplinary healthcare teams
- Utilize advanced medical technology and training
- Lead and mentor junior medical staff and enlisted medical technicians
- Support humanitarian missions, disaster relief, and global health operations
- Develop leadership and management skills as a commissioned officer
NURSING SPECIALTIES AVAILABLE:
We are actively seeking nurses with experience or interest in:
- Medical-Surgical
- Maternal/Infant (L&D)
- Perioperative
- Critical Care
- Neonatal ICU
- Nurse Anesthesia (CRNA)
- Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP)
- Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (PNP)
- Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP)
Both experienced nurses and recent BSN graduates may qualify depending on program availability.

WORK ENVIORMENT:
Nurse Corps Officers may serve at any one of more than 250 Navy and medical facilities around the globe, from Hawaii to Japan, Germany to Guam and California to Florida. As a Navy Nurse, you could work at one of the highly acclaimed National Naval Medical Centers in Bethesda, MD, Portsmouth, VA or San Diego, CA. Or you could provide medical support aboard one of two dedicated hospital ships—the USNS Comfort and USNS Mercy. Additional opportunities are available on surface ships, with aircraft squadrons or even with the Fleet Marine Force.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:
To become a Commissioned Officer in the Nurse Corps, qualifications include:
- Citizenship: Must be a U.S. citizen
- Age: Commission before age 42 (waivers considered, case-by-case basis)
- Education: BSN or higher from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
- License: Must have current, unrestricted license awarded upon completion of NCLEX
- Work Experience: New BSN graduates are eligible. Med-Surg: 3 months. All other specialties: 1-year working experience.
- Meet Navy physical health standards
ACTIVE-DUTY SERVICE OBLIGATION:
- 3-4 years active-duty service obligation
