Role DescriptionThis full-time remote Telephonic Nurse Case Manager (RN) role focuses on coordinating medical care for workers’ compensation claims through phone-based case management. The nurse case manager will assess clinical information, develop and implement cost-effective care plans, and facilitate communication among injured workers, providers, employers, and claims professionals.
Daily responsibilities include monitoring treatment progress, supporting return-to-work goals, planning discharges, and ensuring that services align with evidence-based guidelines and jurisdictional requirements. The role also involves documenting case activities, participating in utilization review processes, and collaborating with internal teams to achieve optimal outcomes for clients and claimants.
Using established medical protocols and best practice guidelines embedded in our case management technology, our Nurse Case Manager’s assess the treatment plan, estimated disability duration and channel patients to best practice treatment providers.
A trusting, professional and positive relationship with the employee is made by each Nurse Case Manager while overseeing every aspect of their recovery.
This position will be conducted from a home-based office with all necessary hardware and software supplied by ICS. Having a compact RN License is highly desirable
Qualifications
- Clinical expertise in Nursing and Medicine to evaluate treatment plans, clinical progress, and medical necessity.
- Experience in Case Management and Discharge Planning to coordinate care, transitions, and return-to-work strategies.
- Knowledge of Utilization Management practices to review appropriateness of services and support cost-effective care.
- Active, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in an applicable state; multi-state licensure is a plus.
- Prior experience in workers’ compensation, occupational health, or insurance-based medical case management preferred.
- Strong telephonic communication, interpersonal, and documentation skills, with the ability to work independently in a remote setting.
- Familiarity with regulatory and jurisdictional requirements related to workers’ compensation and medical claims.
- Proficiency with electronic case management systems and basic office software; strong organizational and time management abilities.
