Job Overview

  • Clinical License RN
  • State(s) DC, VA

Full job description

THE ROLE
We are seeking an experienced Health Facilities Surveyor who specializes in Assisted Living Facilities (ALFs) to advise Marado Leadership and conduct regulatory compliance audits for our ALF clients across Maryland. You will serve as a subject matter expert, helping facility operators understand where they stand against COMAR and OHCQ standards — and what they need to do to get and stay compliant.

This is a 1099 independent contractor role with flexible, project-based hours. As our client base grows, so does your workload.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Advise Marado Health leadership on current regulatory trends, common survey findings, and areas where our training and consulting products should be strengthened
  • Support client remediation planning following audits or state inspections
  • Assist in developing audit tools, checklists, and compliance frameworks for internal use
  • Occasionally support our ALM training program with regulatory content and expertise (optional, based on interest)
  • Conduct on-site and/or remote compliance assessments for Maryland ALFs against COMAR 10.07.14 and applicable OHCQ standards
  • Review facility documentation including care plans, medication logs, staffing records, incident reports, and resident rights policies
  • Identify deficiencies and areas of risk; prepare clear, actionable audit reports for facility operators

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

Required:

  • Minimum 3 years of experience working in or with Maryland Assisted Living Facilities in a compliance, regulatory, or clinical oversight capacity
  • Working knowledge of COMAR Title 10, Subtitle 07, Chapter 14 (Maryland ALF regulations)
  • Familiarity with OHCQ survey processes and common deficiency categories
  • Ability to produce professional, clearly written audit reports
  • Strong interpersonal skills — our clients are small business owners who need guidance, not intimidation
  • Reliable, self-directed, and able to manage your own schedule and deliverables

Preferred (not required):

  • Experience as an OHCQ surveyor, LTC ombudsman, or state agency in health facility compliance
  • Active licensure as an RN, NHA, LCSW, or related credential
  • Experience conducting mock surveys or pre-survey readiness assessments
  • Familiarity with DC or Virginia ALF regulatory frameworks (a plus as we expand)
